V&A Friday Lates: Free Night Out

London's got plenty of free nights out if you know where to look. But V&A Friday Lates beats most, it's free DJ sets and cosplay cabaret in one of the city's best buildings. Next one's 24 April 2026.

What you get Free entry to everything, plus all events inside the V&A. That's live performances, DJs, installations, workshops, karaoke, and themed nights like cosplay cabaret, all in the galleries, like Room 48a Raphael Cartoons. Runs 18:30–21:30, last Friday of every month except January, May, December. Cromwell Road, London SW7 2RL, South Kensington tube's your spot.

How to get it 1. Check vam.ac.uk for the programme, they post the theme a few weeks ahead. 2. Head to South Kensington tube, walk five minutes to Cromwell Road SW7 2RL. 3. Arrive from 18:30, it's drop-in, no booking needed. 4. Queue up if busy; one-in, one-out keeps it moving. 5. Grab a drink at the bar and hit the events, filming happens, so expect cameras.

What the TikTok didn't mention - Best time's doors open at 18:30, popular bits like DJs or karaoke in Room 48a fill fast, but early gets you the run of the place. - The cosplay cabaret's better than anything on the average pub quiz night, skip straight there if that's your vibe. - Pair it with a Too Good To Go bag from a South Ken bakery pre-event; I've grabbed Gail's pastries for £3.50 that way. - Bars inside serve decent wine without museum mark-ups, cheaper than the average gallery cafe.

The catch Skips January, May, December, so don't bank on it every month. Capacity hits quick on big themes, I've turned up at 19:00 and waited 20 minutes.

Free nights like this don't come much better.
