Yoga, pilates, run clubs, HIIT. Free at 17 London stores. Books up fast.
- Catch: Classes book up fast because the spaces are limited and genuinely free.
Sweaty Betty's been running free fitness classes in their London stores for over a decade, and most people still don't know about them. We're talking properly free, no hidden fees, no app subscriptions, no catch except that they book out in about five minutes.
They've got 70+ classes every week across 17 boutiques. Run Clubs on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. Yoga and Pilates most evenings. HIIT and Barre on weekends. All led by actual Sweaty Betty instructors in the shops themselves.
What you get
The classes are completely free. Normally they'd cost you £10-£20 per session, but the in-store classes don't charge anything. You get access to Run Clubs, yoga, Pilates, HIIT, Barre, and sound baths, all the stuff Sweaty Betty usually charges for. Classes run typically in the evenings and weekends, though it varies by location. The Kensington High Street store (W8 5NP) is closest to High Street Kensington tube. Kingly Street (W1B 5DY) is right by Oxford Circus. Both are proper flagship locations with good changing facilities.
How to get it
1. Head to Sweaty Betty Instabook (sweatybetty.instabook.io) or download the Sweaty Betty app. 2. Find your nearest store and check the class timetable, it's sorted by location. 3. Pick a class that fits your schedule. Most slots fill within days of opening. 4. Book your space. You'll need to arrive 10-15 minutes early to check in. 5. Show up. Bring a mat if you've got one, though they've usually got spares.
What the TikTok didn't mention
- Book early in the week. Classes open for the following week on Monday mornings, and the best slots, Run Clubs and early evening Yoga, are gone by Tuesday.
- Go on a Wednesday or Saturday morning if you want the Run Clubs. They're genuinely good. Proper pace, proper route, proper community vibe. Not a beginner's jog, but not a race either.
- Stack it with lunch nearby. The Kingly Street store is surrounded by decent spots, Grind for coffee after, or grab a salad from Pret before heading in for an evening class.
The catch
Classes book up fast because the spaces are limited and genuinely free. You might miss out on your first choice. And you've got to actually show up, they're strict about no-shows, which is fair because someone else could've used that space.
If you're within walking distance of a Sweaty Betty boutique and you've never checked their free classes, you're basically throwing money away every week.
