Adults-only after-hours at the Science Museum. Free entry, bar, silent disco. Last Wed most months.
Adults-only after-hours at the Science Museum. Free entry, bar, silent disco. Last Wed most months.
- £10 VIP ticket for early entry from 6
- Catch: It's massively popular, so expect long lines at opening even with tickets, I've queued 45 minutes in summer.
If you're after a proper night out that doesn't cost a penny to get in, Science Museum Lates is it. It's adults-only after-hours with 50+ interactive exhibits open till 10pm, plus a bar and silent disco. I've been to three, beats paying for a museum ticket and a pub crawl.
What you get Free entry to the whole Science Museum after dark. Or grab a £10 VIP ticket for early entry from 6.15pm, a free drink, and 15% off the shop. Runs 6.30pm–10pm (sometimes 7.30pm–10pm) on the last Wednesday of most months at Exhibition Road, South Kensington, London SW7 2DD.
Nearest tube's South Kensington, five-minute walk. Some talks, workshops, or quizzes might charge a few quid, same with drinks at the bar. But the core access is free, and it's themed every time, think Wonderlab or space nights.
How to get it 1. Check sciencemuseum.org.uk/see-and-do/lates for the next date, they confirm 8–9 weeks ahead. 2. Book your free ticket right there (essential, they sell out). 3. Arrive early, lines snake round the block at opening. 4. Flash your ticket (digital's fine), grab a drink, and hit the exhibits.
Less regular post-pandemic, so every couple of months now, with occasional extras.
What the TikTok didn't mention - Best time's 6.30pm sharp for VIP or first dibs on popular exhibits like the new AI zone, queues ease by 8pm. - Skip the overpriced bar cocktails; the gin and tonics are solid value at £7, and there's a decent beer selection. - Combo it with South Kensington bars post-10pm, walk to the Scarsdale Tavern for pints without the museum crowds. - Silent disco's better than you'd think, proper tunes, and you can wander exhibits with headphones on.
The catch It's massively popular, so expect long lines at opening even with tickets, I've queued 45 minutes in summer. And it's not strictly monthly anymore since the pandemic, so dates are sporadic.
Free, fun, and feels like a steal for central London.
