- £98 for a West End ticket and thought "there's got to be a bett
- Catch: The first-come-first-served model means you need to be on the app at 10am on the dot.
If you've ever paid £98 for a West End ticket and thought "there's got to be a better way", there is. TodayTix Rush drops same-day theatre tickets every morning at 10am, and they're genuinely cheap. We're talking £15-£39 for shows like Wicked, Hamilton, and Moulin Rouge!, the ones that usually cost three times that.
The mad bit? The seats are often better than what you'd get at regular price.
What you get
TodayTix Rush releases 1-2 tickets per person for same-day matinee or evening performances at West End theatres. Prices range from £15 for some shows up to £39, compared to regular prices of £98+ per seat. There's no booking fee, which already puts it ahead of most theatre apps. You access it exclusively through the TodayTix app (not the website), and the tickets drop at 10am every morning for that day's performances.
The theatres vary, Apollo Victoria Theatre (postcode SW1V 1QL) for Wicked, Dominion Theatre (postcode WC2H 7NA) for The Devil Wears Prada, Piccadilly Theatre (postcode W1D 7AE) for other shows. Not every West End theatre participates, but the major ones do.
How to get it
1. Download the TodayTix app on your phone. Web booking doesn't work for rush, app only. 2. Create an account and log in before 10am. 3. At exactly 10am, filter for 'Lottery and Rush' in the app. The tickets'll appear there. 4. Select your show and confirm your seats from the seating chart. You don't get to choose which seats, they're randomly allocated, but you see them before you pay. 5. Tap purchase. Done. Confirmation goes straight to your phone.
What the TikTok didn't mention
- Set an actual alarm. The best shows sell out in under five minutes. Wicked and Hamilton go fastest. If you're not refreshing at 10am sharp, you're not getting in.
- Front row happens. Because seats are random, you can land genuinely good seats, front row, under the chandelier at Moulin Rouge!, sightline seats. Regular buyers at those prices don't get this luck.
- Combine it with dinner nearby. If you're catching a 7:30pm show at a Piccadilly Circus theatre, grab a First Table at a restaurant within walking distance beforehand. You've just made a full night work on a budget.
The catch
The first-come-first-served model means you need to be on the app at 10am on the dot. Miss the window by 90 seconds and your show's gone. You also can't pick your seats, they're allocated randomly, which is brilliant when you land front row and brutal when you don't.
This beats half the theatre deals in London, and the seats prove it.
