TL;DR

Free app. Up to half off food and drinks at 150+ London spots. I've nabbed proper deals.

  • Catch: Service charge isn't discounted, so it can add 12.

EatClub has got me hooked lately. It's backed by Marco Pierre White, covers over 150 venues across the city, and right now they're offering 25% off at Opium Cocktail Bar in Soho, drinks included. If you're eating out this weekend, check it before tables fill up.

What you get

You get up to 50% off the total bill, food and drinks, on last-minute offers from proper restaurants. No fixed prices since venues post deals in real time for quieter slots, think 25% off at Opium Cocktail Bar (Soho, near Leicester Square tube) or 35% off at 'O Ver St. James (Westminster, near Westminster station). Offers pop up for dine-in or takeaway whenever they've got empty tables, and they're added weekly with no end date. Service charge hits separately, but the discount applies to everything else you order.

How to get it

1. Download the free EatClub app (iOS or Android) and sign up, takes two minutes. 2. Browse offers near you, pick one (like 30% off at Notes Coffee), and book your slot. 3. Add your card for EatClub Pay or grab the digital voucher. Show it when you arrive, order what you want, and the discount sorts itself, either auto-tap or staff scan. 4. Use code Londonist15 on your first offer for an extra £15 off. Eat, pay, done.

What the TikTok didn't mention

  • Best time's midweek or early evenings (5-7pm) when restaurants push harder to fill tables, weekends sell out faster, but Soho spots like Opium linger if you're quick.
  • Go for cocktail bars or places with drinks menus; the total bill discount makes a £12 Negroni half price, which beats paying full whack anywhere else.
  • Stack it with a pre-dinner Too Good To Go bag from a nearby Greggs if you're in central, I've done Opium after a £3.29 sausage roll haul.
  • Staff at Pay venues sometimes don't know the deal's on, so double-check your app confirmation before ordering.

The catch

Service charge isn't discounted, so it can add 12.5% on top, not massive, but it stings on bigger groups. EatClub Pay auto-discount is spotty outside big cities, so you're on the voucher system in most London spots, and yeah, that means showing your phone.

Nail this and you're dining at places you'd skip otherwise, half price.
