Eight Restaurant Deal Apps in London, Ranked
Which ones actually work, which ones stack, and which ones to skip. Here's the real breakdown.
Which ones actually work, which ones stack, and which ones to skip. Here's the real breakdown.
- Catch: Discounts aren't guaranteed at peak times.
There are now eight different apps that'll get you money off restaurants in London. Some give you 50% off. One gives you free food from surplus stock. Another stacks loyalty points across 4000+ venues.
The problem is nobody tells you which ones are actually worth downloading, which ones work together, and which ones quietly disappoint after a week.
I've properly used five of these, EatClub, TheFork, Too Good To Go, Tastecard, and Appetite, and tested the rest. Here's what actually works.
EatClub
Price: Up to 50% off your entire bill (food and drinks). Free app, no subscription. Available at: Over 150 London venues
EatClub is the one that gets people properly excited. It shows you restaurants near you with empty tables, and those restaurants drop discounts in real time to fill them. We're talking 20-50% off everything, food, drinks, the lot.
No voucher codes. No awkward conversations with the waiter. You book through the app, add your card to EatClub Pay, and the discount comes off automatically when you tap to pay. That's the bit I like, you just eat, tap, and it's sorted.
How to get it: 1. Download EatClub (iOS or Android) 2. Create account and add your payment card to the app wallet 3. Browse restaurants with live discounts near you 4. Book a table and the discount applies at payment 5. Tap to pay, savings are instant
What the TikTok didn't mention: - Best discounts appear off-peak (lunch 12-2pm, early dinner 5-6:30pm) - Check group size restrictions per venue, some cap at 4 people - Stack this with DUSK for a free drink before dinner
The catch: Discounts aren't guaranteed at peak times. Friday and Saturday nights after 7pm? Most venues drop to 10-15% off or nothing at all.
EatClub beats the others for instant savings and zero faff.
TheFork
Price: Discounts vary by booking. Loyalty points: 1000 Yums = £20 off, 2000 Yums = £50 off. Available at: 322+ London restaurants
TheFork works differently. You book in advance through the app and earn Yums points per reservation. Those points stack toward future meals. Better still, they've got Michelin Star experience deals where you get 3x Yums at tagged restaurants.
The app's strongest in Central London. You're booking actual tables, not grabbing last-minute discounts. It's more planning, less spontaneous.
How to get it: 1. Download TheFork (iOS or Android) 2. Search restaurants by cuisine, area, or rating 3. Book a table at least 24 hours ahead 4. Earn Yums automatically per booking 5. Redeem Yums for £20 or £50 vouchers
What the TikTok didn't mention: - Michelin spots sometimes require 3 courses to unlock the deal - Yums points expire after 18 months, don't hoard them - Combine with Tastecard if a restaurant's on both apps (you won't stack discounts but you've got backup options)
The catch: You need to book days ahead. This isn't for "I'm hungry now" moments. And discounts are tied to specific bookings, not instant like EatClub.
TheFork is best if you're a planner and want loyalty rewards.
Too Good To Go
Price: Surprise bags at 70% off retail value (typically £2-4 per bag). Available at: Hundreds of London shops, cafes, and restaurants
If you're still paying full whack for lunch in London, we need to have a chat.
Too Good To Go lists surplus food from restaurants, bakeries, and cafes at the end of service. You pay £2-4 for a bag worth £8-15. The catch, you don't get to choose what's in it.
Greggs bags are the fan favourite. Gail's bags sell out in seconds. The best ones go fast.
How to get it: 1. Download Too Good To Go (iOS or Android) 2. Search your area for available bags 3. Pay through the app (£2-4 typically) 4. Collect during the pickup window (usually 30 minutes) 5. Collect at the venue, no interaction needed
What the TikTok didn't mention: - Greggs bags in central London sell out within minutes of listing - Bags drop at different times, some at 3pm, others at 7pm - Set notifications for your favourite venues or you'll miss them
The catch: You don't know what you're getting. Sometimes it's brilliant. Sometimes it's three baguettes and a sad sandwich. And you've got to collect within a tight window or you lose the slot.
Too Good To Go is best for lunch rescue missions, not dinner plans.
Tastecard
Price: 50% off or 2-for-1 meals. Annual subscription (free trial often available). Available at: Thousands of UK restaurants, strong London coverage
Tastecard's the oldest player here. You get 50% off or 2-for-1 deals at participating restaurants. Pizza Hut, Domino's, and most high street chains are on it. Coffee shops give 25% off.
The subscription costs, but they run free trials regularly. If you eat out more than twice a month, it pays for itself.
How to get it: 1. Visit tastecard.com or download the app 2. Sign up for free trial (usually 1 month) 3. Browse restaurants and deals in your area 4. Show your card (digital or physical) at the restaurant 5. Discount applies at payment
What the TikTok didn't mention: - 2-for-1 deals often exclude drinks, check before booking - Some restaurants blackout weekends, always check availability - Stacks with nothing else (it's your main card, not a bonus layer)
The catch: You pay a subscription after the trial ends. And the best deals are at chain restaurants, not independent spots. If you want indie dining, you'll see fewer options.
Tastecard works if you like chains and want a structured loyalty program.
Appetite
Price: Free to use. Deals vary (some free dishes, some discounted). Available at: London venues, focuses on hidden gems
Appetite's community-led. Real people recommend restaurants and deals. It's less polished than the others but feels more genuine.
You'll find insider recommendations for freebies and picnic spots across East London. It's not consistent like paid apps, but when it works, it feels like a secret.
How to get it: 1. Download Appetite (iOS or Android) 2. Browse community finds and deals 3. Make a reservation through the app where available 4. Collect freebie or discount details from the post 5. Claim your deal at the venue
What the TikTok didn't mention: - Availability's spotty, not every day, not every venue - Best for exploring, not planning a specific night out - Works better in East London than other areas
The catch: Less consistent than paid apps. You might find nothing one week and three brilliant deals the next.
Appetite's best if you like surprises and aren't in a rush.
NeoTaste, OpenTable, and DUSK
NeoTaste's got almost 4000 offers with a paid subscription and a free trial. OpenTable's the heavyweight, 4000+ UK restaurants, 80% of London's Michelin spots, points for every booking. DUSK gives you a free drink every single day at participating bars, no subscription, just download and claim.
DUSK stacks perfectly with other apps. Claim your free drink while you wait for a First Table reservation or an EatClub booking.
The stack that works
Here's a real evening:
5:30pm, Book EatClub at a restaurant you've been wanting to try. 30% off food for you and a mate.
Before dinner, Walk to a DUSK bar nearby. Claim your free drink while you wait.
At dinner, Your EatClub deal covers the food. If the restaurant's on TheFork, you're earning Yums for next time.
After dinner, Check Too Good To Go for a late-night dessert spot with 70% off surplus cakes.
Total evening: two drinks, a full dinner, and dessert. You've paid roughly a third of what everyone else paid.
Download EatClub and DUSK first. They're free, they stack, and they work tonight.
